Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week in reading we will be working on asking questions and making inferences about the stories that we read. We will also be working on the sound of or as in fork. Additionally, we will be reviewing synonyms and learning about antonyms. We have been working on writing stories, letters, cards, poems, and adding to our class journals in writer’s workshop. This week we will be learning how to write recipes and postcards. Make sure to ask your child what they have been working on during writer’s workshop.
In math, we will be adding and subtracting two digit numbers, using pattern blocks to create symmetrical designs, extending fraction concepts, and comparing fractions. Look for Home Links 9.5, 9.6, and 9.7 to come home this week.
We will be finishing our social studies unit on Canada. We will be
learning about the animals and people of Canada. On Friday, we will have our first Junior Achievement lesson about our families. Special thanks to Lauren's mom for offering to teach this unit to the students.
