This week we will be starting library class! Our library day is Wednesday. This year every other week is going to be a checkout time. The other weeks will be a library lesson in the library or makerspace.
We will also be sending home sight word list with directions on Monday! Please work on these with your student.
This week in literacy, we will…
Know the sound-spelling for short "o".
Read irregularly spelled words (and, stop, jump, see).
Recognize and produce rhyme.
Understand the use of an exclamation mark.
Read and write words ending with double final consonants.
Read a poem titled, The Big Balloon. We will read this poem with expression and highlight words with short "o" vowel sounds.
Read a story titled, The Frog Who Couldn't Jump, by Lionel Page. While reading, we will summarize the problem and solution in the story and infer the characters' traits from story events.

Continue our unit on Narrative Writing
Work on stretching out words to spell and writing down a letter for each sound we hear
Zoom in on one small moment. We will focus on writing a tiny seed story instead of a big watermelon story.
