This week in literacy, we will…
Learn the sound-selling for the digraphs ch, tch, and wh.
Read irregularly spelled words (they, eat, too, our).
Identify the elements of a sentence. We will discuss the use of an exclamation point.
Read and write words with the inflectional ending -ing.
Read a poem titled, The Squirrel. We will locate words with consonant digraphs (wh, and sh), listen for descriptive words and identify words that rhyme in the poem.
Read Oh, Good, by Judith E. Nayer for shared reading. We will notice word endings with the inflectional ending -ed. We will also infer feelings of the characters and retell major events from the story.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
This week in writing, we will…
Start a new unit on opinion writing.
Watch a dog show and judge the dogs according to which one is our favorite and give reasons why
Work on writing our opinions, giving a couple reasons why it is our opinion and including details with our reasons
This week in math, we will….
Practice learning my even and odd numbers
Practice my doubles fact
Learn our doubles plus and doubles minus facts
Practice word problems
This week in social studies we will….
Continue our unit on “Being a Good Citizen”
Learn how we can get along with each other
Learn about how citizens should treat each other
