This week in literacy, we will…
Understand use contractions with not, are and am
Read a funny poem titled, Crocodile. We will identify contractions in the poem
Read Zoom in and Out by Amanda Yskamp. We will search for and use information in text as well as in photographs, labels, sidebars and captions. We will also use contextual information to understand the meaning of unfamiliar words
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Lessons
Read nonfiction books titled, What if you had Animal Teeth, by Sandra Markle, Best Foot Forward, by Ingo Arndt, and Surprising Sharks, by Nicola Davies
In Writing this week, we will…
Practice spelling domain-specific words
Set writing goals to make our writing better
Edit our work by including end marks, capital letters, and other punctuation marks
Create a Table of Contents
In math this week, we will…
- Recognize and extend number patterns
- Count to 120, starting with any number less than 120, including 0 or 1
- Read numerals to 120
- Count by 5s and 10s to 100
- Mentally find the number that is 10 more or 10 less than a given 2-digit number, without counting, and explain the reasoning used
This week during our Social Studies time we will be starting a unit on our Country. We will begin by learning about all of the continents and oceans, then we will zoom in on our country. We will learn about the 13 colonies and the Father of our Country, George Washington.
