This week in literacy, we will…
Add -s to some words to make them plural
Add -es to words that end with ch, sh, s, x, and z to make them plural
Read How Animals Eat, by Mary Ebeltoft Reid. We will discuss important information from the text and infer the writer's purpose and message. We will understand the meaning of new content words by using text and photographs. Additionally, we will recognize simple plurals, review consonant clusters and identify contractions we see within the text.
Read a poem titled "Five Little Sparrows". We will highlight plural nouns that are made by adding -s or -es.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Lessons
In Writing this week, we will…
Understand what metaphors are and use them in our own poems
Discuss what adjectives are and place them strategically in our poems
Celebrate the completion of our Poetry Unit by sharing our poems with the class
