Read a book titled The Strawberry Hunt, by Joan Silver. We will discuss the story's setting and why it's important, talk about how illustrations and print features help us understand information, and make personal connections to the events in the story.
Respond to The Strawberry Hunt by writing about the problem and solution in the story
Read and sequence sentences to develop the concept of first, next and last
Learn that when a one-syllable word ends in f, l, s or z, the final consonant is usually doubled. These words have short vowel sounds
Read a poem titled I Know Something. We will highlight words in the poem that follow the FLSZ spelling rule
