This week in literacy, we will…
Know sound-spellings of final e words with o_e and u_e and e_e patterns.
Read irregularly spelled words (use, put, don't, other).
Distinguish long from short vowels.
Identify elements of a sentence (understand the use of an exclamation point, recognize a colon).
Read and write words ending with the inflectional endings -ing and -ed.
Acquire new vocabulary, hear and clap words with three or more syllables, and recognize ending punctuation marks during shared reading. We will also infer the main theme and tell facts we learned from reading.
Read a poem titled Mouse in a Hole. We will read the poem with expression and highlight words with the o_e spelling pattern.
Write a response to reading.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
This week in writing, we will…
Write letters to Santa
Write a how-to on wrapping presents and create a craft along with it!
This week in math, we will….
Use a number line to solve addition and subtraction equations
Count to 120, starting with any number less than 120, including 0 or 1
Work with and learn about a number line
Count forward and backwards on the numberline by 1s, 10s, 5s, and 2s
This week in social studies, we will…
Finish our Neighborhoods unit
Learn about workers in our community
Learn about rural, suburban, and urban
Read The Important Book by Margaret Wise Brown and write about why Cedarburg is special and important to us
