This week in literacy, we will…
Know sound-spellings of final e words with a_e and i_e patterns.
Read irregularly spelled words (that, of, water, carry).
Distinguish long and short vowel sounds.
Identify the elements of a sentence.
Read and write words containing soft c and soft g.
Infer the feelings of characters, identify the setting, and tell the major events of a story during shared reading. We will also recognize and use verbs with -ed endings.
Read a poem titled, Five Little Mice. We will read and identify words with the i_e spelling pattern and rhyming words.
Write a response to reading.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
