Know the sound-spellings of words with r-controlled vowel sounds (are, air, ear).
Read irregularly spelled words (once, upon, yellow, live).
Identify elements of a sentence and review the use of quotation marks.
Read a poem titled Hickory, Dickory Dare.
We will read a funny book during shared reading! While reading, we will infer characters' feelings from dialogue, text, and pictures. We will also make predictions based on repeating episodes in the story.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
This week in writing, we will…
Continue writing our realistic fiction stories
Write a beginning of our story by introducing the characters and setting
Work on the middle of our stories in which we include a problem and begin to have our characters try to solve the problem
Use details to describe our characters’ actions
