This week in literacy, we will…
Identify syllables in one- or two-syllable words.
Look at syllables in words to read it.
Read a poem titled, Little Raindrops.
Read The Singing Wolf: An Aesop Fable by Marta Magellan. While reading, we will recognize contractions and read in a way that reflects that dialogue and emotion of the characters. After reading, we will tell the events of the story in sequential order and infer a "lesson" from the story.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
This week in writing, we will…
Start a new unit on poetry
Learn about what poetry is and why it’s important
Write poems using our senses
Write shape poems
This week in math, we will….
Start Unit 8 on Changes
Continue learning about time and elapsed time
Discuss how long a second, minute, and hour are
Discuss how many seconds are in a minute, how many minutes are in an hour, etc.
Discuss our daily routines and at what time we do certain activities like brushing our teeth, sleeping, eating, etc.
Learn and play an hour or bust!
This week in science we will….
Continue our nutrition unit
Learn about healthy snacks
Learn what vitamins and minerals are and why they are important
Learn about sugars in our food
