This week in literacy, we will…
Construct and read words containing short vowel closed syllables and long vowel Silent e syllables
We will notice Silent e and closed syllable spelling patterns that help read and spell longer words
Read a book titled, The Big Surprise by Pat McCann. While reading, we will tell the major events of the story and infer the feelings of the characters. We will also recognize verbs with -ed endings.
Read a poem titled, Jack-in-the-box. We will look for words with open and closed syllables and read words with vowel combinations.
