This week in literacy, we will…
Know the sound-spellings of words with the r-controlled vowel sound /or/ (or, ore, oar).
Read irregularly spelled words (open, walk, every, buy).
Categorize words.
Read and write words with prefixes (pre and dis).
Build fluency by reading a story titled, Stores at the Mall. While reading, we will use context to confirm word meanings. We will also answer questions about the story, finding details in the text or illustrations to support our answers.
Read a poem titled, Horsie, Horsie. When reading, we will identify words with r-controlled vowels and review contractions.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
This week in writing, we will…
Continue working on our non-fiction writing
Learn about how non-fiction writing sound different from a story and includes a lot of true facts
Work on including specific and important vocabulary words in our writing
This week in math, we will….
Practice our fact families with double flap cards
Play “ I have I need”
Solve addition story problems with sums and minuends to 20
Apply the commutative property of addition to add
Solve subtraction problems by finding an unknown addend
Use the relationship between addition and subtraction to add and subtract within 20
Solve for the unknown in an addition or subtraction equation involving 3 whole numbers
Practice our double and half facts
This week in social studies we will….
Learn about the many cultures that shaped America
Learn about different customs and traditions
