Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week in reading we will be focusing on cause and effect and signal words that are used in cause and effect relationships. Some of the signal words and phrases we will be concentrating on are so, since, as a result, and because. The children will be introduced to homophones and we will be doing a few activities related to the subject. We will be focusing on the r-controlled vowel sound, as in the words car and smart.
In math, we will be learning how to order numbers on a number grid. We will also be using a number grid to add and subtract. Look for Home Links 9.1, 9.2, and an addition sheet to come home this week.
This week we will begin a new social studies unit on Canada. The
students will learn the location of Canada and important facts related to Canada. We will also be exploring the wildlife found there and taking a look at the Canadian flag.
