This week in literacy, we will…
Know the sound-spellings of final e words with o_e, u_e, and e_e patterns.
Read irregularly spelled words (use, put, don't, other).
Distinguish long and short vowel sounds.
Identify the elements of a sentence, understand the use of an exclamation mark, and recognize a colon.
Read a poem titled, Mouse in a Hole. While reading, we will read with expression and locate words with long o vowel sounds.
Read a nonfiction book titled, Bone Riddles, by Ernesta Flores. While reading, we will acquire new vocabulary from listening and use in discussion. We will also tell facts about animals and how their skeletons help them move.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.
