This week in literacy, we will…
Distinguish the r-controlled vowel sound /ar/.
Know the sound-spelling of words with the r-controlled vowel /ar/.
Read irregularly spelled words (work, again, eight, two).
Identify the elements of a sentence and review capitalization of proper nouns.
Read a poem titled, Hearts. We will identify color words, rhyming words, and r -controlled vowels in the poem.
Read a book titled Garden Helpers, by Charlotte Rose. While reading, we will notice words with consonant blends and compound words. We will also talk about important information in a nonfiction text.
Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.

Play shape riddles
Sort and Graph different 2D shapes based on attributes

Work on an American Symbol poster. The students will chose an American symbol we’ve learned about and create a poster including what it represents and fun facts about it
