December 19th Newsletter

 



December 19-21st , 2022


This week in literacy, we will…

  • Review the sound-spelling of single letter long vowels (e,i,o)

  • Read a story titled, The New School. We will use context to confirm word meanings and build fluency. We will also discuss the events of the story and find details in the text or illustrations to support our thinking. 

  • Read Santa Clause and the Three Bears by Maria Modugno and identify the characters and the setting in the story.

  • Read The Polar Express, by Chris Van Allsburg.

  • Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons.

This week in writing, we will…

  • Write a Christmas Roll-a-Story. The students will roll a dice to mix-and-match story elements to produce a creative writing piece.

This week in math, we will….

  • Learn about place value and make a place value holiday tree

  • Practice our math facts with holiday themed coloring sheets

This week in science, we will…

  • Use the engineering process to design and build a Christmas tree using solo cups.


Important Dates to Remember!

  • Student and Staff Dress Up Days!

    • December 19 - Cozy Clothes (flannels, scarves, socks)

    • December 20 - Holiday Colors (red, green, white and/or blue)

    • December 21 - Ugly Sweaters / Tacky Outfits

  • Dec. 22-30- Winter Break

  • Jan. 2- School Resumes - Pajama Day!
