May 22nd Newsletter

 

May 22-26, 2023



This week in literacy, we will…

  • Read irregularly spelled words (they, look, were, went)

  • Recognize and use plurals that add -es to words that end with the letters -ch, -sh, s, x, or z.

  • Read a book titled The Right Spot, by Judy Gifford. We will talk about connections to text, infer the author's purpose, and talk about the characters, problems, and events in the story. 

  • Write a response to reading. 

  • Read a poem titled, Little Robin Redbreast. While reading, we will identify sound words and words that appeal to our senses. 

  • Participate in Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Lessons.

This week in writing, we will…

  • Continue learning about different types of poetry including haikus and acrostic poems

This week in math, we will….

  • Find math patterns using the input and output machine

  • Add and subtract with sums and minuends to 20

  • Last week of Math homework!

This week in science we will….

  • Begin a new unit on Life Cycles

  • Learn about how plants grow and change

  • Observe how our own seeds are growing and changing!

  • May 22 - Last library checkout

  • May 22 - Mismatch Day

  • May 23 - Neon Day

  • May 26 - Quiet day bring a stuffed animal 

  • May 30- Return all library books
